Bible Commentary: Introduction to Daniel

The Book of Daniel was written in the 6th century by Daniel, who served in the courts of the rulers of the Babylonian and Medo-Persian Empires. The book tells a tale of two kingdoms: the kingdom of God and the kingdom(s) of man. While man’s kingdoms war and fight amongst themselves, God is in sovereign control over all history and empires. He is working all things, including the suffering of his people and the rising and falling of nations, towards the establishment of his kingdom, which will stand forever.
